Working by Zoom

As we return to life in lockdown I feel the vast difference between now and our first foray into this way of living. It seems the shock factor has gone, the air does not vibrate with redundancy and fear, instead, in just a heartbeat children’s voices have returned as they entertain themselves and their parents in gardens, and the stillness of everything has me dreaming. I have a dream under construction; an isolated place of retreat, land where this healing aspect of solitude and the practice of embodiment can be fully experienced for integration into daily life.

The new normal of daily life requires us still to deliver and do, architecturally this change is embodied in the Zoom Rooms that now appear on consented plans. In embodiment work with clients, Zoom has revealed its deep magic in this Covid adaptation. Taking three breaths with a new client this morning reminded me yet again just how powerful the breath is in allowing spaciousness and bringing us back to now, connection, and wisdom of the body. In three breaths together both the client and I have dropped away the prior moments and are bought to noticing within. We forget we are on Zoom.

Working in person is my preferred way to work, but the last year has taught me sometimes Zoom is better for the client. This is especially true for people working with trauma. Having the first few sessions online offers a depth of safety and grounding made possible from being in one’s own home. As trust and embodiment build, working in person brings the work to new levels which as a client recently said was a “miracle” for them.

People have successfully worked online with me in opening to orgasmicity, resolving erectile dissatisfaction, expanding the body’s pleasure vocabulary, deepening connections with their intimate other, couples work in communication, boundaries, consent, and developing creativity. This work is so powerful; I find myself wanting to create a course for practitioners here in NZ as the wait list to work one on one is unfortunately five months. Please do let me know if you want to book a session in advance; summer is a great time for this work.

In the meantime, if you have questions please do email me. Lots of love to you and I do hope you find your bliss in your own personal way regardless of what is happening in the world around us.

Mahana mai, warm wishes,

Sonia.
