Who is Sonia Waters?

I am creator of Wildself, mother of two, lover of One, #somaticsexoligist, #embodimenttherapist, and passionate about #natureimmersion for deep transformation. From a career in architecture and construction I have lived through corporate success highs and deep dark holes. Then I turned my life around in the mountains and flowing rivers of Wanaka, New Zealand, so that I can bring you, wonderful human, to discover your freedom!

I started life in the tussock covered mountains of Lake Tekapo. As a family we lived like gypsies in gold miners’ huts, caravans and rented houses. Childhood dreams and bare-footed freedom. Then somehow, I found myself swept up in the turbulence of adulthood. I married, had children, and with the slow decline of that marriage I packed my emotional self into a socially constructed container. Relationships, solo-motherhood, adventures and a high pressure job had big highs and big lows. One final straw took me out and I spent the next few years working through depression. I’d had friends with depression but only truly understood what they had been through when I experienced it myself. It was hard. AND the source of much gold. Depression was my lowest point, and my turning point. If this resonates with you, I have written a little e-book you might like to read. Find out more below.

One ski trip to Wanaka I said to my eldest “I want to live here” she said “why don’t you?” Once again I threw life into the wind and initiated change. I sold my Wellington life and moved south, back to the high country; my turangawaewae. To move for my love affair with tussock and rock has been the most magical move of all.

This transition was pivotal for me; it was physical, spiritual and soulful. The most transformative aspects were internal. My inner strength jumped out of my skin, I shifted from a life of doing, to one of living and loving. My relationships are magical, opening and deepening every day. Lessons from my inner child, masculine and feminine, go and flow, experience from years in the wilderness, and my own unique wild self … are gifts I love to share with you.

Along with life experience and a career in architecture and construction, I am an ISTA graduate, womb graduate, certified with the Institute of Somatic Sexology and am the highest qualified person in NZ certified with the Somatic Sex Educators Association of Australasia. I coach students of the Institute of Somatic Sexology and am currently doing my Masters degree in psychology with Massey University.

I am passionate about guiding humans to live their best life.

With love,

Sonia.

Magic in the Mire: Surviving change and turning its challenges into gold.

Major life change like redundancy, divorce or death can pull the rug out from under our feet, drive us to depression AND can be our biggest source of gold. With tools, knowledge and support this potentially traumatic or depressive time can be the place where we find new meaning and purpose. When we re-wire our somatic pathways with this gold we not only survive; we learn to thrive in our pleasure, power and freedom.

I wrote this little book for people in the midst or the aftermath of change. It is full of the tools that have helped me through my own challenges and continue to help my clients find their gold. Download it and share it round, this is for anyone and everyone who could benefit with the support of new tools to navigate change and its challenges.
